SEO will increase traffic to your website and online store by organically ranking specific keywords as high as possible in the search engine results pages. A keyword is a word or phrase that you assign to your website content in order to help increase ranking position on organic (unpaid) search engines results.
Putting your business on the first page of leading search engines is crucial to generate more sales than you ever thought possible and to create a reliable and long-lasting online footprint.
It is important to understand how to research and how to use relevant keywords to achieve optimal results. Research is necessary to guide you to properly select such keywords that will effectively promote your content and to optimize the keywords that your audience is looking for.
The first step in keyword research is brainstorming to list all the words and phrases related to your content. If you have installed an analytics program like Google on your website, you can sign in to your analytics account and find out which keywords are getting higher traffic to your site. This information is usually found in the performance tab when using the Google Search Console. Such keywords insight can be added to your brainstorm list.
Once you have this list of all the generated keywords, the next step is to determine which of those keywords or what variations have been sought and the competitiveness they have.
To obtain a higher ranking in a short period of time, it is recommended to target keywords that are not so competitive such as the Long Tail Keywords.
Long Tail Keywords are an excellent way to attract traffic to your site, especially those with a low to medium traffic rating. This is an example of a Long Tail Keyword: let’s say you are promoting a product on your website that consists of a coffee table and your location is in Miami. Examples of Long Tail Keywords can be “Miami Coffee Table” and “Modern Coffee Tables Miami”.
You may want to research for Long Tail Keywords that correctly describe your products or services and that relate to the audience that you want to target. Google Keywords Planner is an excellent way to research keywords and their online traffic.
Once you have selected the best keywords, you will assign them to your content following appropriate SEO techniques. In general, the administration account of your website may have the SEO section to edit appropriate tags and keywords for your pages and content.
